Rayne reportedly died over the weekend.
AVN, an adult industry trade publication, reported the news, saying she died in her sleep.
An autopsy will be conducted in the coming days but at this stage the cause of death is still unknown.
The assistant chief of the medical examiner’s office, Ed Winter, was quoted in The Guardian as saying Rayne’s death appeared to be the result of an accident or overdose.
Mr Winter said she was at her home in Sun Valley, Los Angeles with a friend on Saturday when she collapsed.
Ms Rayne’s friend called 911 and paramedics arrived soon after, but were unable to save her.
Rayne, who retired from adult films in 2015, was among eight women who accused Deen of sexual assault.
Rayne claimed Deen punched her so badly, she was unable to complete a scene due to bleeding.
“I can’t blame it on immaturity anymore,” Rayne told The Daily Beast last year.
“I can’t blame it on being new to the industry and being some young kid. No, you know better.”
She said she called him a son of a b***, which set him off.
It follows claims made in December 2015 by Deen’s ex-girlfriend Stoya who also accused him of rape.
In a series of tweets, Stoya claimed her ex and frequent co-star Deen held her down and raped her.
