Law enforcement immediately sprang into action.
Ninety people, including punters at the casino and people in nearby businesses and shops, were escorted to safety.
Traffic was brought to a standstill as cops blocked off the street, fearing that an explosion could rip out of the building and into the wider vicinity.
At around 18.45 pm the area was finally secured and a bomb disposal unit moved in to assess the danger.
